Server Roles And Active Directory Domain Services Installation
Windows Server 2008 provide 17 types of roles, each role perform specific work. we can configure each roles according to our needs.
So lets start, below is all roles image, in Windows Server 2008.
For open server role go to the Start >Administrative tools >Server Manager >Roles >Add Role
Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS)
Here i am installing Active Directory Domain Services role, the role provide Domain for centralized mange users, groups, computers, printers and so on. This role is very use full for organizations.
Step by step installation of ADDS
Go to the Start >Administrative tools >Server Manager >Roles >Add Role >Select Active Directory Domain Services > Next
Below window will be appear for Confirm Installation Selection, Press Install button for installation
After installation is completed go to the command prompt and type Dcpromo.exe and press enter like below
Below Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard window will be appear, press Next
After next Chose a Deployment Configuration window will be appear, here i am creating New Domain, so select Create a new domain option and press Next
Below window for FQDN, type your Fully Qualified Domain Name here i am typing dcops.com, and press Next
After that installation of Active Directory has been started like below
In the next window its showing DNS required, so check marked on DNS Server and press Next
After Completed, below window will be appear for Default Database And Log Path you can change if you want, Press Next
After that below window will be appear for The Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Account Password, (this password is required when we restore ADDS in future) chose this password different from Domain Administrator Password.
After press Next, Summary window will be appear read this and Save Configuration in text format if you want and click on Next, now installation of Domain Controller has been started after finish need to be restart your server.
After restart, go to the Start >Administrative tools >Active Directory Users And Computers showing in under administrative tools, Now Active Directory Domain Services has been installed on your server.
