Routing And Remote Access On Windows Server 2008

Routing And Remote Access (RRAS) feature in Windows Server 2008



Software based router- Windows Server 2008 (RRAS) feature can we used to route traffic between lightly trafficked subset on a small network.  




Step by step configuration of Routing And Remote Access (RRAS)




Go to the Server Manager and select Add Role option, below window will be appear select Network Policy And Access Services and click on Next button

























Select below services and click on Install button

























Installation succeeded like below
























Now go to the Administrative Tools option and here Routing And Remote Access feature is enable select it

























Routing And Remote Access window will be open, select your system and right click, open Configure And Enable Routing And Remote Access option


















After that below window will be appear click on Next button































Now select Custom Configuration option like below and click on Next
























Now select LAN Routing option like below and click on Next























Completing wizard will be open like below click on Finish button























Press OK for confirmation































After that initializing will be start































Now LAN Routing has been configured, check from left side of window pane












You can disable LAN Routing from below option

How To Restore Windows Server Backup

Restore Backup of Windows Server 2008





Windows Server backup restoration process needs, Administrator Account

System State Backup restoration process step by step

Go to the Administrative Tools option and select windows server backup now below window will be appear


From the right side pane select Recover option, below window will be appear, in this window two option is their  This Server and A Backup Stored On Another Location select second option like below because our backup is stored on another location



























After click on next button again two is their Local Drives and Remote Shared Folder, select second option like below and click on Next




Now browse or type location address where your backup is placed, and click on Next




























After select backup from shared location, below window will show all details like when backup was created check it and click on Next button























After that below window will be appear, here is three option Files and Folder, Volume And System State, select System State and click on Next button





























Below window will be appear, select Original Location, in this option we restore files on its own original location, you can chose Alternate Location option to restore files on another location, then click Next






























Now backup restoration process has been started like below






























After completed the restoration process system will restart with previous System State

How To Take Windows Server Backup

Windows Server 2008 Backup






Windows server backup is the one of best feature, which provide System State Backup Restore


Specification-


Protecting data against loss, corruption, disaster (Man made or Natural) and other problems.


System State Backup- is a copy of several critical important file. it contain Boot File, System File, All File Protected By Windows File Protection, Active Directory and Sysvol.

Prerequisites- 


For taking backup and restoration, Administrator account required.


Step by step configuration of Windows Server Backup 


Go to the Server Manager and select Add Feature, Feature window will be appear select Windows Server Backup Feature and click Next button for installation




















After installation go to the Administrative Tools option and select Windows Server Backup


























Now Windows Server Backup console will be open, Backup Schedule and Backup Once option is their in right side pane

Select Backup Once option and chose Different option for backup crating from below window and click next 

  



























Here is two option Full Server Backup and Custom Backup, Full server backup is contained all data (Applications And System State). here i am selecting custom option































In custom option we can chose drive, folders, files and system state to take backup, here i am selecting System State And C drive


















Now System State And C drive is selected through Add item, then click on Next































Now two option will be appear Local Drive and Remote Shared Folder, you can chose where you want to placed your Backup, i am selecting Remote Shared Folder because Local Drive option is not safe for placed backup of long time
































In the below Location box type network shared drive or folder location address here and select Inherit option for without authentication access of created backup, you can also select Do Not Inherit option for access backup with authentication and click on Next
































 Now confirmation window will be appear, click on Backup button































Backup process has been started wait it will take time (depend your backup size)































Now backup is completed, checked from where you placed your backup































In my case backup is created on Network Shared Location

Volume Shadow Copy In Windows Sever 2008



Volume Shadow Copy is the best feature in Windows Server




Specifications of this feature

  • Recover accidentally deleted files and folder.
  • Recover Over righted files.
  • Compare version of file while working, you can use previous version when you want to check what has changed between new version of file.

Limitations   

  • 64 Shadow copy per volume can be stored, after that old copy will be deleted and add new copy.
  • Shadow copy is Read Only mode

Step By Step Configuration of Volume Shadow Copy


Go to the My Computer and right click on C drive, open it


Check the content of C drive





















For enable Volume Shadow Copy on his drive right click on the drive and select Configure Shadow Copy option like below





















Below window will be appear, Select C drive and enable it 
























After press Enable button below confirmation screen will be appear click Yes






















Schedule option is also available you can schedule it like below























Select Create Now option for taking Shadow copy at once


























Right click on volume which you have Volume Shadow Copy, For restore Volume Shadow Copy click on Restore Previous Version






















After click below window will be appear with All Created Volume Shadow Copy







































Select path where you want to restore Shadow Copy, in my case i am selecting D drive and click on Copy option





























Now restoration has been started like below























Check from D drive hope all content has been restored.

How To Uninstall Active Directory Domain Services From Windows Server 2008






Here we learn about how to remove Active Directory Domain Services Role from Windows Server 2008

Go to the command prompt and type dcpromo.exe like below













After press enter below window will be appear, Server already having Active Directory that's why "you can use this wizard to uninstall Active Directory Domain Services on this server"


Below window will be appear after press Next, Its Confirmation Window for Delete Domain Controller Check mark on "Delete the domain because this server is the last domain controller in the domain" option and press Next



Again Confirmation Window will be open for Delete Application Directory Partition, check mark on below option and press Next


Below window will be appear and asking for Administrator Authentication for Removing Active Directory


Below window showing Summary of Removing Active Directory, After read click on Next 


After next Active Directory Domain Services start Removing process like below and after completed the process server automatically restart so please wait.


After restart the server go to the Server Manager > Remove Role and Unchecked the Active Directory Domain Services option and click on Next


In below window, Click on Remove Button


Once removing process has been completed, you can check from Server Manager ADDS (Active Directory Domain Services) role has been uninstall successfully.
